ClearEyePhoto.com is the photography web site of freelance photographer David J. Murray.

David specializes in commercial, nature, travel, portrait, architectural, and performance photography.

His travels have allowed him to shoot all around the globe, including Antarctica, Senegal, Kenya, Galapagos, Vietnam, Egypt, Greenland, and Svalbard, as well as across much of the United States, the Carribean, and Europe. Images from these travels have been licensed for use in print ads, brochures, magazines, and travel web sites from NH to Australia.

He has had the honor of doing professional backstage and show photography for many world famous performers and authors, including Joshua Bell, Herbie Hancock, Wynonna Judd, The Afro Cuban All Stars, David Grisman, Pilobolus, Jodi Picoult, Isabell Allende, and many more. His work has appeared in marketing materials for The Music Hall, Strawbery Banke Museum, The Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce, New Hampshire Home, NHPR, and many of these artists.

An avid photographer since his teens, David turned pro and started Clear Eye Photo in 2008, after retiring from a 30-year career as a Silicon Valley executive, computer scientist, and entrepreneur. Here are a few highlights from that career:

In 1984 he designed and co-authored the first commercially available hypertext/hypermedia software product (Filevision for Macintosh, which won numerous awards and was honored as a Software Product Of The Year by InfoWorld in 1985).

In 1986 he co-founded Frame Technology Corporation, a San Jose, CA-based provider of technical publishing software that went public in 1992 and which was acquired by Adobe Systems in 1995. David was the lead designer and co-author of Frame's flagship software products, was VP of engineering, and was a member of the company's board of directors for 9 years.

In 1997, while a Visiting Scholar at Dartmouth, he co-founded one of the first geographic map-based store locator services for the internet (Geographic Services Corporation). The locator was used by companies such as Godiva, CVS Drugs, and West Marine.

From 2000 to 2008 he held various management and technical positions at San Jose, CA based Propel Software Corporation, including VP of Engineering, Chief Operating Officer and, from 2007-2008, President and CEO.

Before starting his career in computer software David earned undergraduate and masters degrees in Music Theory at The University of Connecticut, did doctoral work in music composition and computer science at the University of Illinois, and taught music theory at California State University, Northridge. He is still an active musician.

David is a Trustee of the New Hampshire Institue of Art, and a member of the New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists. He is on the boards of Adjela Learning Corporation, Kent Stephen's Stage Force, and on the advisory board of New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
